Rhine Air Mover

The Rhine air over was developed as a special air-driven pump for use with hose air-line masks. It was a compact portable unit that weighed 90 pounds. The ship’s low-pressure air system was connected to a regulator on top of the Rhine air mover.

The ship’s supply air was used to drive an internal oilless air pump. The oilless air pump drew air into the intake filter on the snorkel tube and delivered it to the manifold. The breathable air then passed through an outlet filter on the manifold. The manifold had three connections for three personnel to quickly connect their hose air-line masks. The regulator on top of the Rhine air mover was manually adjusted to control the speed of the air motor. The speed of the air motor was controlled by the speed of the air pump. A pressure gauge showed the air pressure at the manifold for the Rhine air mover.
