Ventilation Equipment

8 inch Vent Ducting

Portable ventilation blowers equipment could be set up and rigged using the portable collapsible vent ducting in three different ways: in the smoke-filled space with exhaust vent duct hose running to the weather deck; on the weather deck with suction ducting running to the space; or placed halfway between the fire and weather deck, with both suction and exhaust vent ducting rigged. Placing the blower in the affected space and pushing the smoke out provided the greatest amount of air movement. Locating the blower on the weather deck resulted in less air movement; however, it placed the vent ducting under negative pressure and prevented the spread of smoke to interior spaces if a hose leaked or became disconnected. If a good exhaust flow path was established, the blower was placed in the affected space.
