| Steam Smothering System |
| Steam Smothering System was primarily used for oil and gas fire in confined spaces. The steam smothers a fire in much the same manner water fog does. However, steam was used as a last resort when other methods failed or were not available. The use of steam carried a high rest to personnel and equipment. The usual installation consists of a line leading from an auxiliary steam line. In some cases installed systems were placed in engineering bilges, fuel oil and gasoline storage tanks. |
