Universal Wrench
 
One of the unique bulkhead-mounted tools was the special universal wrench. It was shaped like a cross with multiple attachments and was used for access and setting material conditions of readiness. It consisted of the following:
  1. Body - 1-inch iron pipe. The pipe was left open at both ends for drop bolts.
  2. 2 ½-inch hose spanner
  3. 1 ½-inch hose spanner
  4. Socket - for nuts on hatches
  5. Socket - to fit hatch nuts not covered by the above socket
  6. Socket - to fit nut on escape scuttle handwheel
  7. Lug - to fit sockets on flush deck sockets or remote control gears
  8. Lug - to fit sockets on deck drains in heads and washrooms
  9. Spade - for flush deck armored hatches
