| Bolt Cutters |
| Two sizes of bolt cutters have been used by Sailors. Thirty-six-inch bolt cutters cut mild steel, bolts and rods up to 1/2 inch in diameter. Twenty-four-inch bolt cutters were used to cut ¼- to 3/8-inch stock such as storeroom locks. Bolt cutters could not be twisted while they were used as this might have broken their jaws or blades. |
