USS SPRUANCE (DD 963), Grounding, 25 January 1989

 

On January 25, 1989, the USS Spruance (DD 963) ran aground while fighting heavy winds near Andros Island, Bahamas. The grounding resulted in $1.4 million in repairs to the ship. There were no personnel casualties or injuries reported.
